DUI Defense

Arrested for DUI? There are two important things to do immediately.

First: Request a DUI hearing with the DMV. You must do this within 10 days of your DUI arrest in order to contest your license suspension. You should have received a Notice of DMV Hearing with the paperwork you received upon your arrest.  The Notice should provide instructions on how to request a DMV hearing.  If you do not request your DUI hearing, your license will automatically be suspended by the DMV for the DUI. You will not be allowed to contest the DUI license suspension at a later time.

Second: Find a criminal defense lawyer. A good DUI defense attorney will help you with your case in court as well as your DUI suspension hearing with the DMV. That's right, one DUI results in two cases: you will be charged with a criminal offense in court, and the DMV will begin proceedings to suspend your privilege to drive. Santa Cruz criminal defense lawyer Jamyrson Pittori will defend you in court and with the DMV.

The consequences of misdemeanor DUI and Felony DUI are significant. In addition to fines, license suspensions, months of DUI classes, points against your license to drive, and probation...YOU CAN GO TO JAIL.
